Arrest Records in Presque Isle County

Several public agencies can create part of a Presque Isle County arrest trail. The Presque Isle County Sheriff’s Office handles county and rural calls, operates the county jail, and provides contracted law enforcement in Onaway. Rogers City Police keeps the incident and arrest report for a city arrest. Michigan State Police and conservation officers may also make arrests within the county. The record must be requested from the agency that created it, even when the same person was later booked at the Sheriff’s jail in Rogers City.

Onaway follows a different path. The city contracts with the Presque Isle County Sheriff for law enforcement, so Sheriff records can hold both the incident report and the later booking product. They are still distinct records and should be named separately in a request. For an MSP arrest on a highway, use the MSP public-record request channels for the agency report, then contact the county jail and local court for the other parts.

Arrest Records vs Conviction Records

An arrest means an agency took a person into custody or began the arrest process on stated grounds. A conviction is a court judgment of guilt.
